Sindh Expands Social Protection Program to Support Children and Women
The Government of Sindh has announced major new initiatives under the Sindh Social Protection Program aimed at improving the lives of low-income families across the province. The program focuses on child welfare, maternal health, and financial support for vulnerable women, especially in rural communities.
Under the newly approved plan, children aged between 0 to 5 years will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 3,000. The initiative is designed to help families manage early childhood nutrition, healthcare, and development expenses during the most important years of a child’s growth.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah approved the expansion of several welfare programs to strengthen the province’s social safety network. One of the key projects is the Early Childhood Development program, which is expected to benefit around 885,000 children across Sindh.
The government also announced seasonal financial assistance for women farm workers, recognizing the economic challenges faced by rural women. In addition, the existing Mamta program will be upgraded to provide improved support and better access to healthcare and financial aid for mothers and young children.
Officials stated that a new payment system will be introduced to ensure timely and transparent cash distribution to beneficiaries. The updated model aims to reduce delays and make financial support more accessible for deserving families.
According to reports, these combined initiatives are expected to benefit more than one million people across Sindh. The government believes that investing in women and children will help improve long-term social and economic development in the province.
The Sindh Social Protection Program reflects a growing focus on inclusive welfare policies and community support initiatives in Pakistan, particularly for underprivileged and rural populations.
